At Marton Meadows Golf Course, protecting the natural beauty of the Cheshire countryside is just as important as providing a great place to play golf near Congleton. As a central hub in the picturesque village of Marton, the team at our friendly 9 Hole golf course in Cheshire are proud to play their part in supporting local wildlife and preserving the rural landscape that makes the club so special.
Following the recent approval of a golf course extension, work is now well underway to enhance biodiversity across our site. Alongside offering an enjoyable round of countryside golf , we are investing in long-term environmental improvements that will benefit both golfers and wildlife.
A major part of the project is being delivered in partnership with Leisure Facility Improvement Specialists APC Land Solutions and The Mersey Forest , a leading organisation responsible for developing a growing network of woodlands and green spaces across Cheshire and Merseyside. The Mersey Forest team is currently on site planting over 2,000 native trees and shrubs around the new section of the course.
Species being introduced include Hazel, Rowan, Larch, Cherry and Silver Birch, all carefully selected to encourage biodiversity while enhancing the natural surroundings of the course.
But the conservation work doesn’t stop there. Plans also include the creation of new ponds and natural water courses, helping to support local wildlife and provide additional habitats for birds, insects and amphibians. Seed mixes containing wildflowers and native grasses will be sown along embankments and new landscape areas, creating vibrant natural spaces that will flourish throughout the seasons.
These efforts reflect our commitment to maintaining a beautiful countryside golf environment in Cheshire, where players can enjoy the game while surrounded by thriving natural habitats.
